Ghost Brothers: Lights Out at Waverly Hills

Some paranormal locations have a reputation that precedes them, and Waverly Hills Sanatorium is definitely one of them. Shadow figures. Death chutes. Thousands of deaths. If you've watched paranormal TV for any length of time, chances are you've heard of it.

So when the dice sent us to Ghost Brothers: Lights Out Season 2, Episode 8, we knew we were in for a memorable investigation.

We just didn't realize someone would voluntarily climb into a body bag.

Waverly Hills... But Make It Funny

One of the things we love most about the Ghost Brothers is their ability to balance genuine paranormal investigation with humor. They aren't afraid to get scared, but they also aren't afraid to laugh at themselves along the way.

That's a refreshing change of pace, and honestly, it makes the creepy moments even more effective.

This episode gave us plenty of laughs, including one of our favorite lines of the night:

"Damn... my ribs are gone."

Needless to say, that phrase stuck with us for the rest of the episode.

The Other Story of Waverly Hills

Like many people, we mostly knew Waverly Hills as a tuberculosis sanatorium. But one of the most interesting parts of this investigation had nothing to do with TB.

Instead, we found ourselves learning about Woodhaven Geriatric Center, which occupied the building after the sanatorium closed.

Stories of neglect, abuse, and heartbreaking conditions made us wonder whether some of the darkness people experience today could be connected to this later chapter in the building's history.

It completely changed the way we looked at Waverly Hills.

Tim the Demon... Really?

Every haunted location seems to have its own legendary entity, and Waverly Hills is apparently no exception.

Enter... Tim the Demon.

We have questions.

Why is his name Tim?

Why is his nickname "The Mini?" Because the reason Tara gave made no sense to us.

And perhaps most importantly...

Does everything unexplained have to be labeled demonic?

Let's just say we remained... respectfully skeptical.

Ghost Whip 3000

If there were awards for naming paranormal equipment, Ghost Whip 3000 would win.

Watching the Ghost Brothers send their remote-controlled camera into the infamous body chute while giving it a heroic name was comedy gold. Especially when it took off on it’s own and they all blamed Juwan.

Of course, the moment everyone remembers is the body bag experiment.

We're not sure why everyone agreed to it.

But watching not one, but two of the Ghost Brothers willingly zip themselves into body bags inside one of America's most haunted locations produced exactly the reaction you'd expect from us:

Absolutely not.

No amount of money could convince either of us to volunteer for that assignment.

And poor Juwan... by the time Marcus unzipped the bag, the steam coming out had him looking like a rotisserie chicken.

Final Thoughts

This episode reminded us why we've been having so much fun adding Ghost Brothers to our watch-along rotation.

Yes, there were creepy moments.

Yes, there was fascinating history.

But there was also plenty of laughter, ridiculous paranormal gadgets, skeptical commentary, and more than one moment that had us yelling at the TV.
