Dino Nuggets Taste 37% Better

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to give you an idea of what our Sideshow episodes are like. If you're interested come join us over on Patreon!
This is the Special Sister show to The Activity Continues. Here we just talk about things like current events, things we’ve been up to, shows we’re watching, and other personal stuff.
Welcome back to the Sideshow, where the rules are made up, the topics are unpredictable, and somehow we always end up talking about snacks, books, or tiny dogs.
This week’s chaos begins before the theme music even rolls. Megan recounts a birthday party escape strategy involving a suspiciously tired child and the universal menace that is daylight saving time. Meanwhile, Amy discovers that plant-based chicken nuggets shaped like mysterious animals are surprisingly delicious… though everyone agrees they would clearly taste at least 37% better if they were dinosaurs.
From there, things spiral in the best possible way.
Amy shares what she’s currently listening to on Audible, including a fascinating nonfiction book written by former CIA agents (Shadow Cell). Megan counters with a couple of intense book recommendations of her own, including The September House and the extremely dark thriller The Butcher and the Wren. Listener book recommendations are welcome—Amy still has Audible credits burning a hole in her pocket.
Then Megan bravely confesses her favorite genre: romantasy. You know, the kind with magical kingdoms, brooding warriors, and fairies who spend their time… well… fighting and f*cking. Naturally, she’s accepting all romantasy reading recommendations from our well-read Patrons.
Speaking of fantasy worlds, Megan’s ongoing Stardew Valley obsession continues, including a heated debate over the game’s newest marriage candidate (Clint the Blacksmith… really?). Amy also reports that Megan’s algorithm has somehow invaded her own phone, as TikTok now insists on showing her livestreams of grandmas peacefully farming in Stardew Valley.
Meanwhile, Amy drops a potentially major life update: there may be a 14-year-old Yorkie named Muggs in her future. Nothing is official yet, but if the vet gives him the all-clear, there’s a good chance Amy's household could soon become an unofficial geriatric Yorkie retirement community. Updates will follow.
Megan also reviews a brand new Netflix documentary about dinosaurs, narrated by Morgan Freeman, which leads to one of the strangest scientific theories we’ve ever heard involving a Spinosaurus using a bleeding fish to lure sharks into its giant open mouth. Is this real science? We don’t know. Did it make Megan laugh? Absolutely.
And of course, because no Sideshow is complete without a little TV talk, Amy and Megan check in on the newest seasons of Top Chef and Tournament of Champions, along with a quick appreciation moment for the always brilliant Padma Lakshmi.
It’s snacks, books, dinosaurs, farming games, romantasy, and possibly a new dog. Just another perfectly normal day at the Sideshow.
Stay weird, friends.
