Diggin’ Tru Demon War: Bat Faces & Baby Bellies

Diggin tru The Dead Files “Demon War” (Season 4 Episode 4) which aired August 2, 2014.

The Clients

Leslie, Angie, and Maggie (cutie-patootie not pictured)

Yes, there were bat-faced demons. Yes, there was a mirror moment that made us uncomfortable. Yes, Steve was once again diggin’ tru the archives like the Brooklyn legend he is.

Amy didn't disappoint with her quirky vocals and side-eyes:

But honestly? The real star of this episode (who wasn't even on screen) might have been the baby.

We spent a surprising amount of time talking about sweet little Nathan — his chubby cheeks, his chaotic toddler energy, and the way the entire narrative somehow managed to orbit around him. Because when a two-year-old becomes central to the paranormal plotline, things get complicated fast.

We dug into the historical threads.

Counterfeiting: Depression-era desperation

Clarence Brown and his money-making machine

A grain elevator explosion that still feels horrifying more than a century later

But we also talked a lot about stress, family dynamics, and how quickly paranormal language can escalate when emotions are already running high.

And of course, we could not ignore the demon design choices. Bat faces. Teeth. Closet energy. At a certain point we had to ask ourselves: are we watching a haunting… or are we watching folklore remix itself in real time?

This is what happens when we put Amy Allan's descriptions into AI programs for some alt art:

There’s also Clarence. Poor Clarence. A counterfeiter with a tragic decline, head pain, paranoia, institutionalization. We found ourselves oddly protective of him compared to the more theatrical elements in the house.

Clarence and Florence (Nightingale!) in later years

And then there’s the moment where things take a hard left into “okay, what are we actually saying here?” territory. We tread lightly, but we definitely had thoughts. Child exorcisms? Yikes!

As always, we balance curiosity with compassion.

If Amy Allan told you the energy in your home was being amplified by the living people inside it — would you look inward… or start packing?
